My belief is simple: a home should be more than just a place to live; it should be a safe space. Growing up, we didn’t have much, but I watched my mother transform every house we lived in into a sanctuary. She taught me that "home" is a feeling of safety and comfort, regardless of the zip code.
My professional journey into design began in the world of art framing. Spending years working with colors, patterns, and intricate layers gave me a unique perspective on how small details build a larger narrative. After years of collaborating with interior designers and hearing a client tell me, "You have an amazing eye, you were born to do this," I decided to follow my gut.
After gaining invaluable experience at a boutique design firm, I launched GHSpaces to help families in Houston and beyond create homes that tell their own unique stories.
The Philosophy: Art-Forward & Lived-In
I am deeply inspired by Spanish design and the beauty of a "collected" home. I don't believe in showrooms; I believe in spaces that feel like you.
- Art-Forward Aesthetic: I am drawn to spaces that highlight meaningful art. My background allows me to help you select and place pieces that serve as the soul of a room.
- Designed for Real Life: Life is beautiful and messy. Whether it’s kids, pets, or a spilled glass of wine, I design for the reality of your daily life without ever sacrificing the curated, "art-gallery" vibe you deserve.
- The Goal: When you walk into a finished room, I want you to feel an immediate sense of peace. My job is to handle the complexities and endless decisions of a renovation or new build so that you can simply enjoy the process of watching your vision come to life.
At Home with Gabriela
When I’m not in the studio, you’ll likely find me outdoors. My husband and I love heading out on adventures or simply watching our two dogs play in the yard.
My own home is a perpetual work in progress, a sanctuary filled with national park prints from our travels, crafty DIY projects, and plenty of dog-friendly corners. I’m a firm believer that a home is never truly "finished" because it grows and evolves right along with the people (and pets!) who live there.
